The Role
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving top-of-funnel pipeline growth by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers. This role sits at the front line of the sales organization, partnering closely with Account Executives and Marketing to generate high-quality sales opportunities. The BDR will execute targeted outbound campaigns, respond to inbound inquiries, and ensure a consistent flow of qualified meetings that convert into pipeline and revenue. 

Key Objectives 

  • Generate qualified meetings and pipeline through outbound prospecting and inbound lead follow-up 

  • Research and prioritize target accounts and key personas within assigned territories 

  • Execute multi-channel outreach (calls, email, social, events) with personalized, value-driven messaging 

  • Qualify prospects using defined frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC) and transition opportunities to Account Executives 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity tracking in CRM and sales engagement tools 

  • Partner with Marketing on campaigns, messaging feedback, and lead quality optimization 

  • Consistently meet or exceed activity, meeting, and pipeline generation targets 

Qualifications & Key Competencies 

  • 1 - 3+ years of experience in a sales, business development, or customer-facing role (EdTech experience a plus) 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence decision-makers 

  • High level of organization, discipline, and activity management 

  • Curiosity and coachability, with a desire to learn and grow within a sales organization 

  • Familiarity with CRM and sales engagement tools (e.g., Salesforce, Gong, Highspot) 

  • Consistently achieving or exceeding qualified meeting and pipeline targets 

  • High conversion rates from outreach to meeting to qualified opportunity 

  • Strong alignment and collaboration with Account Executives and Marketing 

  • Continuous improvement in messaging, targeting, and outreach effectiveness
